New
Classes! Jackpots! Added Money! Here
at NCAApHC our wish is to provide horse show opportunities and offer
classes that the interest is not currently being met by the existing
venues. Therefore, in an effort to fill a void, we have a program
by which interested parties may join together and add classes specific
to their needs as demand arises.
NCAApHC
offers the additions of new classes and competitions to our shows
by process of nomination.
Here's
how it works:
For
a new class to be added you simply gather 5 total interested parties
and each then pays a $10 nomination fee for that class. This both
insures that the interested parties are serious and also helps to
pay for the additonal cost of awards for the new class. The $10
covers that class for the calander year and is a one time only fee
as long as the class continues to draw an average of at least 5
participants over the year's scheduled events. If this is the case
the class will become a permanent class on the show bill.
If
any class (including those already listed on the show bill) fails
to maintain an average of 5 participants over the course of the
year then that class is automatically up for review and possible
replacement with a new class that has more demand.
This
is our Democratic way of trying our level best to provide all the
horsemen and horsewomen of Arkansas with the kind of horse show
that they want and the kind of classes they enjoy most. We want
to supply the majority of exhibitors with what they are seeking
and not just a pre-canned show bill.
Have
an idea for a class that you think would be popular and well recieved?
Drop us a line about it! We welcome any and all input from our supporters.
Our Point System
We
here at NCAApHC are always committed to thinking "outside the
box” in an effort to bring you the finest and fairest horse
show experience available anywhere.
In
our effort to address long heard complaints about show point systems
(i.e., points too hard to earn, systems not fair, etc.), we here
at NCAApHC have come up with a point computation system that we
feel is totally fair to everyone.
For
our members, we have adopted a 'one point for every horse you beat
in competition' point system.
It's
as simple as it sounds. If there are 15 horses in a class, including
yourself, you earn 14 points if you are first place, 13 points if
you are second, 12 for third, 11 for 4th, and 10 for a 5th place
win. This way, we can easily and fairly compute who has the highest
points/biggest wins for the day, year, and any special awards that
may be given.
This
is especially helpful for overall high point for the day & year
end awards, and eliminates someone winning say “high point
youth” that showed against very few horses in a small class
and earned 5 points for every first with the system that most clubs
use. This is the typical 5-4-3-2-1 regardless of class numbers system.
Our system would give “high point youth” to the person
who successfully competed and won over the largest numbers of other
exhibitors regardless of the placings.
I
have long told my kids, students, and exhibitors that a 3rd place
out of 20 competitors is a bigger win than a first place out of
3. Sadly though, we often see a person deflated and unhappy about
such a placing because of the loss of critical points towards year
end standings or high point recognition. We aim to solve that problem
and give credit where credit is due and enthusiastically acknowledge
those “Big Wins” that may not be a “Blue”
but nevertheless are quite an accomplishment.
Let
us know what you think about this program, and feel free to email
with any questions about it you may have.
Sincerely,
Karen Garriott, NCAApHC President
