FAQ
(frequently asked questions)
Q? Do
I have to own/show an Appaloosa to be a member and show at the NCAApHC
shows?
A: No
Absolutely not. The NCAApHC is an ALL breed club that was founded
by a small group of Appaloosa owners, breeders and showmen. The
club will always offer ApHC specific classes on each show bill,
but the number is quite small in comparison to the open, all breed
classes offered.
Q? There
are already a lot of horse show clubs in Arkansas, why should I
join NCAApHC?
A:
-
We offer classes you won’t see on other show bills, and
have worked hard to include competitions for all levels of exhibitors.
We offer special classes geared toward leveling the playing field
for all competitors.
- We
offer modest cash paybacks at our shows to help exhibitors offset
the ever increasing cost of showing horses.
- We
insist and actively encourage a friendly and uplifting place to
show horses.
- We
understand that a warm reception and helpful attitude is of the
utmost importance to bring new faces into the exciting hobby of
showing horses.
- We
offer a “user friendly” format to our show bill, keeping
like classes all in one section of the show bill.
ie: if you show only English, the English classes will all be
together allowing you to arrive before your classes start and
leave when they are over. The same holds true for Halter and Western
Events. We have our contest events as a separate show on a separate
day, and only speed events are ran at that show.
- We
offer educational experiences in the form of classes and clinics
in the off season; we offer a “horse experience” for
horse owners, those interested in buying their first horse, and
also include the horse lover that doesn’t own horses at
all.
- We
offer an open mind about ideas for new classes; and we add them
to our show bill by nomination of the interested parties.
-
Unlike some open how clubs we hire ONLY breed carded highly qualified
judges to judge our shows.
Q? What
is 2-D Western Pleasure?
A: We offer an added money two
division western pleasure competition. Here is an example of 2-D
WP would place in a class of 20:
The first go round the judge will place his 6 winners
of the first division; the first 3 places will be paid out.
Those 6 winners are excluded from the second division
go of the remaining unplaced 14 horses. The judge will again place
6 horses and again the first 3 will be paid. The prize money for
each division placing will be the same. This class intends to better
level the playing field in a western pleasure competition for the
non professional exhibitors.
Q? What
are these “Ranch Horse” classes?
A: Ranch horse classes are special
classes meant to depict a working ranch or “trail” horse.
Unlike other walk/trot/canter classes “Ranch Horse”
prohibits show saddles and fancy clothes. Clipping excess hair on
your horse is totally optional, and no merits will be counted for
grooming. You are allowed to ride in tie downs, skid boots, carry
a rope, dress for the current weather conditions, and ride in any
type of rein with one or both hands on the reins.
Full details on the rules and judging criteria for “Ranch
Horse” classes can be mailed, or e-mailed to you on request.
